MASTIAID

General Overview

What is Mastitis?

Mastitis is an inflammatory disease of the udder in dairy cows, most commonly caused by bacterial infection. It is one of the most prevalent and economically significant diseases in the dairy industry. Mastitis adversely affects milk production and milk quality, while causing pain and discomfort to the animal. In severe cases, it may lead to fever, loss of appetite, infertility, and even death.

Economically, mastitis results in reduced milk productivity, increased treatment costs, discarded milk, and premature culling of affected animals. Due to these significant impacts, mastitis is considered one of the most important diseases affecting dairy farming worldwide.

Stages of Mastitis

1. Sub-Clinical Mastitis

Somatic Cell Count (SCC): Below 350,000

Symptoms:

  • Mild inflammation of the udder, including swelling, heat, and pain
  • Slight oedema in the udder
  • Sudden reduction in milk yield
  • Cow resists touching or milking of the udder
  • Occasional secretion of white flakes during milking

2. Clinical & Acute Mastitis

Somatic Cell Count (SCC): Above 350,000

Symptoms:

  • Severe inflammation of the udder with swelling, heat, redness, and pain
  • Acute oedema of the udder
  • Drastic reduction or complete stoppage of milk production
  • Presence of blood during milking
  • Cow does not allow touching or milking of the udder
  • White flakes discharged during milking

How MASTIAID™ Helps

  1. Helps control mastitis, particularly at the sub-clinical stage
  2. Supports faster recovery in clinical and acute mastitis when used alongside antibiotics and intramammary infusion therapy as prescribed by a veterinarian
  3. Helps prevent mastitis in healthy lactating cows
  4. Prevents tissue damage and promotes quicker recovery
  5. Organic formulation; safe for cattle with no known residue or side effects
  6. Enhances milk yield and improves milk quality in lactating cows
  7. Helps reduce SCC and improve SNF (Solid-Not-Fat) value, contributing to higher-quality “organic” milk with better market value

Dosage & Recommended Usage of MASTIAID™

1. For Infected Cows at Sub-Clinical Stage

Recommended Dosage:

  • 60 g/day for 5 days

            o   Either 20 g × 3 times daily, or

            o   30 g × 2 times daily

After 2–3 doses, pain and heat may subside; however, treatment should not be discontinued. Continue administration for the full 5-day period.

Once symptoms disappear and SCC falls below 350,000, continue with:

  • 20 g/day throughout the remaining lactation period

Important:

For sub-clinical mastitis, MASTIAID™ must be administered without antibiotics or other medications.

2. For Clinical & Acute Mastitis

Recommended Dosage:

  • 60 g/day (30 g × 2 times daily)

MASTIAID™ must be administered along with antibiotics and intramammary infusion therapy as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Important:

  • Do not use MASTIAID™ alone during the clinical or acute stage of mastitis.
  • At this stage, the pathogenic load is significantly higher; therefore, antibiotic support is essential.

Once symptoms resolve and SCC drops below 350,000, continue:

  • 20 g/day during the remaining lactation period

This helps:

  • Prevent recurrence of mastitis
  • Maintain udder health
  • Improve milk yield and quality

3. For Prevention & Milk Yield Enhancement in Healthy Lactating Cows

Recommended Dosage:

  • 20 g once daily throughout the entire lactation period

MASTIAID™ is suitable for both healthy cows and buffaloes.

Feeding / Administration Instructions

MASTIAID™ may be mixed with:

  • Molasses
  • Banana
  • Regular feed or concentrate

Ensure that the product is properly consumed and reaches the stomach of the cow or buffalo.

MASTIAID™ may also be administered safely during any stage of pregnancy (gestation period).

IMPORTANT NOTES

“MASTIAID™ IS INTENDED FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF SUB-CLINICAL MASTITIS AND THE PREVENTION OF MASTITIS.”

“IN CASES OF CLINICAL & ACUTE MASTITIS, MASTIAID™ SHOULD NOT BE USED ALONE. IT MUST BE ADMINISTERED TOGETHER WITH APPROPRIATE ANTIBIOTIC TREATMENT.”

MASTIAID™ alone is effective for:

  • Sub-clinical mastitis management
  • Prevention of future mastitis infections
  • Improvement of milk yield and SNF value

For clinical and acute mastitis, antibiotic therapy is essential due to the higher pathogenic load at this stage.
